Whether you are an avid sportsman, or more of an armchair athlete, our wide range of sporting activities has something for everybody.

Snooker balls

Grappenhall and Thelwall Royal British Legion have outstanding snooker facilities including regularly serviced and maintained Match tables. With three tables in total, the club has a strong snooker reputation and many members are avid players.

We currently have two teams which take part in both the Warrington Summer and Winter leagues, with player’s handicaps varying from -18 to +34. The Summer league is one division of 12 teams, whilst the Winter league is 3 divisions with approximately 12 teams in each division. You can follow the progress of our teams and keep up to date on players and fixtures by clicking on the following link:

Sport League — Warrington Snooker League

Practice sessions take place on Tuesday evenings and matches are usually played on Thursdays with the two teams alternately playing home and away.

The tables are available for everyone to play at the club, and we always welcome new members on to the teams. If you are interested in getting involved with snooker at the GTRBL please come down on practice or match evenings to meet some of the team. Alternatively, contact can be made by emailing

Dart board

The darts team plays in the Grappenhall & District Darts League, which has a Winter and Summer league. The Winter league plays a “Round the Board” game and the Summer league plays “501” games.

League matches are played on a Monday & competitions on a Friday. The Winter team consists of 9 players whilst the Summer team can be 6 or 12 players (6 singles & 3 Pairs games).

Dave Anderson, League secretary, organizes the Winter league. The Summer league is arranged by Angela Smith. Anyone can join the darts team, as long as they are members of the Legion.

Currently, the GTRBL darts captain is Liam Ward.

Black Duck

Black Duck is our club fishing water located in the lovely Cheshire countryside to be enjoyed by all like-minded GTRBL members only. Black Duck was bequeathed to the club by the Stansfield farming family after the Second World War for the use of veterans and members of the club.

Black Duck consists of two ponds joined together and surrounded by mature trees and shrubs creating an idyllic location for our fishing members.
